Help me with suggestions

Well I am in a dilemma and after a long consideration thought it would be a good idea to ask for online suggestions which might be able me to show the right path. I love singing but I never believed my vocal quality was something exceptional. Yet some of my friends ask me to go for the vocal lessons and I am not sure if this is going to be a good idea. I have also made some own demo CDs and have sent them to music companies but I never received any intimation from them. Can getting vocal lessons are really going to make any difference please suggest.
